Festive Rice Krispie Treats

A super fun and easy treat to make for the holidays!

  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 8 cups marshmallows
  • 6 cups rice krispies* GF if needed
  • 1 tube icing I used red
  • 1/4 cup M&M’s minis


  1. Grease a baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper.

  2. In a large pot, melt the butter. Add the marshmallows, and stir constantly until this melt. Remove from the heat, and add the rice krispies. Stir until everything is well-combined.

  3. Scoop the mixture into the baking dish and gently press it, spreading it evenly in the dish. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

  4. Once the mixture is set, press a Christmas tree cookie cutter into the rice krispies. Carefully remove from the cutter, and place on a plate. Repeat until you’ve done the whole tray. You will have some leftover, I use it as my taste-tester.

  5. Using an icing bag with a small round tip, draw the garland on the Christmas tree. Stick the M&Ms to the icing. 

  6. Place in an airtight container. Will keep for up to a week.

If you need gluten free, I used One Degree  Organics Brown Rice Cereal.

I do believe Kellogg’s also makes a GF cereal.¬†
